About us

We are St Margarets Church, part of the Church of England, worshipping in and serving the people of Thornbury.

Our approach to life is ‘liberal’. This means we value the insights and wisdom of the secular world and other religions, and aim to be inclusive in our response to others, to celebrate and affirm every person without discrimination.

Our approach to worship is ‘catholic’. This means we value the sacraments, especially the presence of Jesus in the bread and wine of the Eucharist, and the traditional liturgies and music of the church. We aim to be gentle, relaxed and flexible in how we use them.

Our place is the community of Thornbury but especially the Thornbury Centre which has a special place in our history and remains a place where the whole community can come together.  We aim to work with all who use the Centre to build the kingdom of God and to respect the diversity of beliefs we find there while being open about our own faith in Jesus Christ.
